Room101 Uncle Lee Ranfla
Los Angeles based Room101 Cigars has introduced a new cigar to its line-up: a 6 1/2″ x 30 x 50 x 19 Perfecto called the Room101 Uncle Lee Ranfla. Matt Booth, founder of Room101 Cigars, introduced this vitola as a tribute to his Uncle Lee, the man who first introduced him to cigars.
The packaging of the Room101 Uncle Lee Ranfla is a departure from the Japanese motifs used by Room101. Matt Booth originally had them packaged in cereal boxes, but, after merchant reluctance, changed the box to Room101’s classic 10 count boxes where the lid comes cleanly and completely off the top, but this time with a picture of the famous Uncle Lee. The actual cigars are tissue wrapped covered with a paper wrapper displaying “Uncle Lee” with dollar signs and a Room101 logo.
The Room101 Uncle Lee Ranfla is a medium to full bodied cigar that starts off strong and peppery before a toasted oak aroma forms that combines nicely with flavors of mulling spice and natural tobacco sweetness, along with roasted coffee, nutty, and oat notes. It is covered in a dark brown Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with visible oils and a slight veniness. A rich mix lies underneath: a Nicaraguan Corojo binder and a filler blend of Dominican Piloto Ligero & Honduran Corojo. The Room101 Uncle Lee is rolled at the Davidoff owned Camacho factory, Agroindustria LAEPE S.A., in Danli, Honduras.

Pete Johnson, owner of Tatuaje Cigars, blended the Drinking Age for the 21st anniversary of Anthony’s Cigar Emporium; hence the name “Drinking Age.” The Tatuaje Drinking Age is made by the Garcia family’s My Father factory in Nicaragua. It will be a 5 1/2 x 54 Robusto Grande that features a band displaying Anthony’s Cigar Emporium Drinking Age and the number 21 in the middle, with an apropos number of 21 coming in each box. They are medium to full bodied Nicaraguan puros with a Criollo Sun Grown wrapper and an all-Nicaraguan filler and binder blend. Only 300 boxes were made and we are selling out fast!

Viaje Exclusivo Regular Production Line
Viaje will finally be releasing the Viaje Exclusivo as its first regular production line since it announced in 2012 that the company would be “100% small-batch” and Anthony’s Cigar Emporium expects its shipment this week. Like most Viaje releases, the Viaje Exclusivo is a Nicaraguan puro. It has a Nicaraguan Criollo ’98 wrapper and Nicaraguan binders and fillers using AGANORSA farms tobacco.
Though Viaje has now added production in Nicaragua, the United States, and plans were recently announced to make cigars in the Dominican Republic, Viaje has used its longstanding relationship with the Raices Cubanas factory in Honduras to make the Exclusivo line. Viaje’s Exclusivo blend started out as a personal blend for company founder Andre Farkas. It later began as an events-only cigar, but high consumer demand prompted the decision to put the cigar into a regular indefinite production so that customers can more easily obtain one of his favorite blends. Farkas did say if the demand is there, he will keep Viaje Exclusivo as regular production, but did not rule out a return to 100% small batch if the demand changes. With the first production run of Viaje Exclusivo, the whole first production run is already sold out.

Domus Magnus II Hadrian
This is the first TAA release by Quesada, the parent of Casa Magna, since the Fonseca TAA Signature Series over seven years ago. Quesada has chosen the best line of its best brand, the Casa Magna Domus Magnus II to feature its 2015 TAA Exclusive Cigar. The Domus Magnus II is known for its beautiful dark brown sun-grown Jalapa wrapper and its unique, almost geomteric, sizes that are sharply box-pressed. It is a Nicaraguan puro made by the Plasencia family’s factory in Nicaragua. The Hadrian is the Casa Magna 2015 TAA Exclusive size from the Domus Magnus II line.
The Hadrian is a very unique 5 1/2 x 60 Figurado. It is box-pressed on the ends and dramatically rounded and larger toward the center. The Hadrian uses the same Nicaraguan puro blend with a distinctive 2007 Jalapa wrapper as the other sizes in this series.

This is the third consecutive year that La Flor Dominicana has produced a TAA Exclusive. The LFD TAA 47 (naming refers to the 47th annual TAA Convention and Tradeshow) follows the Air Bender Maduro – 2012, the Double Press Maduro – 2013, and The 707 – 2015. At this year’s TAA Convention in April, La Flor Dominicana asked the Tobacconists’ Association of America Members to vote on which size by placing orders on three contenders – a 5 1/2 x 52 Robusto Grande, a 6 x 60 Gordo, and a 6 1/2 x 54 Box Pressed Torpedo, each using a Ecuadorian habano wrapper, Mexican binder and Dominican fillers.
The 5 1/2 x 52 Robusto won out with the most orders and has entered production. The LFD TAA 47 is a one-time release and the number of boxes will be limited only to those ordered by TAA Members at the 2015 TAA Convention and Tradeshow earlier this April. Exact production figures have yet to be disclosed.

Cowned Heads The Angel’s Anvil 2015 (TAA Exclusive)
Building upon the success of The Angel’s Anvil 2014 TAA Release, Crowned Heads is re-releasing The Angel’s Anvil as a 2015 TAA Exclusive. Crowned Heads has had great success and praise with its limited releases, like the Las Calaveras and The Angel’s Anvil.
This time, The Angel’s Anvil is a 6 x 52 Toro. Crowned Heads has chosen to model The Angel’s Anvils on classic Cuban cigar sizes, last year’s release was a 7 1/8 X 49 Churchill. Though Jon Huber, co-owner of Crowned Heads, has indicated that the blend has changed the from the 2014 release, the 2015 TAA Exclusive still features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and filler and is made by Ernesto Perez Carrillo’s Tabacalera La Alianza in the Dominican Republic, which also produced the Cigar Aficionado #2 Cigar of 2014.
Jon Huber is reported as saying “I ‘amped-up’ the blend a bit over the 2014 edition…to me (and others who’ve smoked it), the closest thing I would compare it to would be a Four Kicks Mule Kick LE 2012.”

Tatuaje TAA 2015
The Tatuaje TAA 2105 marks the fifth consecutive year that Tatuaje has made an exclusive TAA release. All have had Nicaraguan fillers and binders and four of the five have used a rustic and oily Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. The TAA 2015 also uses a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and is box-pressed with the usual retro band and the TAA logo in the middle with the year. In these limited release TAA blends, flavors have been similar to the Tatuaje Seleccion del Cazador blend with some earth, cedar and, of course, pepper; with a hint of dryer cocoa aromas and a bit of natural tobacco sweetness on the lips coming from the Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.
As with all Tatuaje cigars, the Tatuaje TAA 2015 will be made at the My Father Cigars factory in Esteli, Nicaragua under the supervision of Jose “Don Pepin” Garcia and Jaime Garcia. Pete Johnson, owner of Tatuaje, has indicated that the TAA 2015 is a rerelease of the TAA 2011 blend, also a 5 5/8 x 54 box-pressed vitola. Exact production figures are not available, last year 2,800 boxes were produced.
