Caldwell Gibraltar Extra – NOW IN STOCK
Anthony’s Cigar Emporium has received the new Caldwell Gibraltar Extra, part of Caldwell’s new Iberian Express brands. The Iberian Express brands have replaced Caldwell’s Junior Varsity Collection as its brand of premium value-priced cigars. The Caldwell Gibraltar is now called the Caldwell Gibraltar Extra and has remade packaging, notably now coming in 25 ct boxes. The Caldwell Gibraltar Extra medium bodied, peppery blend with the notable Ecuadorian Habano wrapper that is exactly the same as the Gibraltar. The Gibraltar was one of former Davidoff Master Blender William Ventura’s Dominican brands prior to being Caldwell’s exclusive cigar maker at Caldwell’s new factory in Tamboril, Dominican Republic. The Gibraltar was a well-constructed, full-flavored cigar in its own right and never a “Caldwell Second.” However, Robert Caldwell was concerned enough about the brand’s identity that he repackaged it.
From Cigar Coop: “Caldwell explained on Stogie Geeks that the Junior Varsity was originally a line being made by Tabacalera William Ventura and marketed in the Dominican Republic. Caldwell thought they were great cigars and reworked them to have some larger ring gauges (they were all originally small ring gauges). Caldwell mentioned that sometimes the name “JV” (Junior Varsity) was perceived as a “Caldwell Second”. Originally he had planned for Junior Varsity to be the “workhorse” line and Caldwell Collection was going to be his crown jewel. As a result of this, Caldwell Collection ended up taking both roles, thus he made plans to rework it.”
The Gibraltar Extra is made at the new Caldwell Cigar Factory next to Tabacalera William Ventura.
