Harvested Depth: Reviewing the Plasencia Cosecha 151

To give a little background, the Plasencia Cosecha 151 is a cigar built around history. It celebrates the Plasencia family’s 151st consecutive tobacco harvest, using tobacco grown during the 2016 crop year. Every leaf in the blend comes from Honduras, making this a true Honduran puro.

More importantly, the cigar reflects the character of that specific harvest. It is rich, direct, and unmistakably full-bodied. From the opening draws, I found deep notes of roasted coffee, earth, and dark chocolate. The smoke was dense, yet the profile remained polished.

As it settled, the cigar became more expressive. Toasted pecans and oak formed the core. Hints of dark fruit added sweetness. A touch of cinnamon brought warmth without taking control of the blend.

By the final third, the strength was firmly established. Still, I never found it harsh. The burn remained even. The draw stayed consistent. Each transition felt measured and refined.

For a pairing, I would choose black coffee, aged rum, or a balanced bourbon. Coffee reinforces the roasted character. Rum brings forward the sweetness and fruit. Bourbon complements the oak and spice. For me, the Cosecha 151 is a bold, sophisticated cigar that rewards slow, deliberate smoking.
